| Plenty of challenging terrain for Mom and Dad, as well as
programs for the "pizza/french fry" crowd makes Bolton Valley a good choice for a family ski trip. And it's all in one compact area. á
á
ItÆs a dilemma that many families face. Mom and Dad want a nice, compact mountain
where they can find the kids and know they arenÆt going to be at some base area
5 miles away. At the same time, the adults would really like some serious
terrain to play on. Smaller, family oriented ski areas often just don't have the steeps and glades that
will keep advanced skiers happy for a long weekend, let alone a vacation week.
Not so with Bolton Valley. Over the years, this Vermont ski area has remained
true to its reputation as a destination resort with something for everyone.á

The mountain is easy to reach, just a
few minutes off I-89 between Montpelier and Burlington. Parking is right by the main base lodge, and all the
amenities are in a compact area. In fact, the slopeside hotel is attached to the base lodge.
How much more ôcompactö can you get? Simply park your car, carry your things
inside, and start skiing.
Most trails feed
back into the same base area, so you can stand at the bottom and watch for your
kids. One trail does feed down to a second base lodge -- but kids would have to
work hard to end up over there. Even then, the area isn't far from the main
lodge.
Aficionados of the Warren Miller movies might know that Bolton is where Eric and Rob DesLaurier learned their craft.
You may have heard
RobÆs name recently. He and his wife Kit climbed up Mt. Everest -- and then skied
down it.
If they could enjoy skiing at Bolton, surely there's plenty to challenge the
rest of us.
