Like its sister campground at the Douglas Dam Headwater, this Tennessee Valley Authority facility is one of the nicest public campgrounds you'll see. Large sites, many of them waterfront, offer full hookups at bargain prices.
Unfortunately, like the Headwater campground, this one is mostly locked up in long-term reservations.
Less than an hour from the Gatlinburg entrance to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, this campground is a destination on its own.
Recreation facilities include a boat ramp and fishing pier, bait and tackle shop, and a wildlife viewing area. Other amenities include rest rooms with heated showers and flush toilets, a dump station, children’s play equipment, picnic tables and grills, and nature trails.
A few of the 62 sites are first-come, first-served, but even on a cool, early season mid-week day, the campground was full.
