2012/13 College Season Pass Deals: Buy Early, Save Big! (Or, We Do The Homework To Find You The Best Deal!)

Now, seriously…would you rather be turning pages, or feeling your edges at Okemo? (Courtesy Okemo Mountain Resort)

College is a high-stress time of life; there’s always a midterm, final, or massive research paper lurking around the corner, keeping students from being able to relax…much. But, getting onto the slopes is a great escape; fresh air, exercise, and the exhilaration of putting an edge into fresh snow clears out the cobwebs and makes it easier to go back and make sense of that fascinating textbook. To make it even sweeter, ski areas give discounts to students (more likely, they make it easier for Mom & Dad to pay for the whole thing!). Here’s this year’s list of Northeast ski areas and the passes they offer for college students. Some have deals that end soon, so find your local area and make sure you don’t miss the deal you want. Pay close attention to the Multi Resort Passes…the price can vary a LOT for the same pass, depending on which mountain you buy it from, or when you buy it! (Disclaimer: Ski areas can change prices at any time, so it might not be smart to wait until the last minute.  Also, while we’ve fact-checked this article as much as possible, we keep hearing from ski areas that “oh, we’ve changed that price and haven’t updated our website.”  So, we update as we get new information, but doublecheck the price before you click that “Buy Now” button!)

Note that resorts that have arrangements with other resorts have a note about “Multi Resort Pass”; the details on those are below in the article.

Mount Sunapee went all-out this year. Not only did they contribute to the awesome College Breakout Season pass, they teamed up with Okemo and Stratton to offer the SOS (get it?) Pass.  Pricing?  Well…at Okemo and Stratton, $299 until 12/17, then $399. Sunapee SEEMS higher, at $315 now, but that works out to be the same price when you factor in tax in Vermont.  In other words…buy where it’s convenient for you!

In New York, students up to age 22 can hit both Whiteface and Gore all season for $385 (price goes up to $485 after November 19, so get moving!)

Okay, put down your pencils and pick up your wallet. Class dismissed!
