That’s right…ski season is here! Sunday River has been open two different weekends, we’re getting reports of snow as far south as the Berkshires, and temperatures will continue to drop. Will you be ready when the season really hits???
One way to make sure you are is to attend the Boston Globe Ski & Snowboard Expo, held Thursday, Nov. 11 through Sunday, Nov. 14 at the Seaport World Trade Center. This is a great event for consumers; there are exhibitions, skis for sale, deals from ski areas, you name it. Want to meet Glen Plake, or Hannah Kearney, or Seth Wescott? Or, how about Ross Powers, Donna Weinbrecht, or some guy named Tommy Moe? They’ll all be there.
Or, want to know what’s happening at your favorite mountain? Go to the event website and check out the exhibitor list; it’s pretty much a “who’s who” of Eastern skiing (with a handful of Western mountains competing for your business, as well). Want to learn what’s new in skiing/boarding equipment? Some of the top manufacturers will be there to show you what they’ve got, along with accessory manufacturers, ski clubs, radio stations…oh, and the shows! Professional skateboarders, the Skyriders! Trampoline Show, even a winter clothing fashion show; there’s always something going on.
We have to admit that shows tend to drive us a little crazy after a while; part of our job is going to them to stay up with changes in the industry. But, at this time of year, it’s exciting…all of the ski-related excitement gets our juices flowing, too. The season is almost here…go find out what’s going to be happening!
Entry costs are reasonable at $12/person, or $10 if you print off a coupon in advance, and children under 12 get in for free. Hours are 12-10 Thursday, 3-10 Friday, 10-8 Saturday and 10-6 Sunday. You’ll probably come away with more value than that in swag, and definitely in advance coupons from your favorite ski area (bring a pair of mittens to the Ski Vermont booth to donate to charity, and you’ll get a $10 coupon toward a lift ticket or a pair of Kombi Gore-Tex gloves) . Get out and have some fun…we’ll see you there!
